Mark West (Chief Executive)

Mark has been with the Foundation since2002, having previously worked for the Pasque Hospice and Child Bereavement Service as well as having experience in the commercial sector.

Malcolm Newman (Chair)

An electrical engineer by profession, Malcolm is a previous Chief Executive of Bedfordshire's Chamber of Commerce and Director of the Bedfordshire Learning & Skills Council. He sits on the Foundation's general grants panel.

 

Richard Combes

Brought up in Luton and Dunstable, Richard retired from Ernst & Young in 2000 where he was for many years Managing Partner of their Luton Office. He now lives in Westoning and has held many voluntary positions since retiring from active business life, most notably chairman of Beds & Luton Chamber and Business Link and The Luton Dunstable Partnership. He is currently treasurer and a trustee of The Waterways Trust and on the boards of a few other private companies and voluntary bodies.

 

Veta Hudson Rae

Veta Hudson Rae came to England in 1959 from Jamaica. She is married with two children and is a qualified nurse, midwife, health visitor and counsellor, working for 45 years for the NHS, 40 of those in the community in Bedford. She now works for the South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust as a therapist with children with behavioural difficulties and their families. She is on the board of several local community groups including YMCA and Christian Family Care. Veta sits on the bench of the Bedford Court as a magistrate and is a member of Bedford Soroptimist International.

 

Janet Ridge, MBE

Janet is Chief Executive of Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity.

She is also a trustee of the Community Tree Trust, and Vice Chairman of both the East of England Rural Affairs Forum and of the Governors of Edward Peake Middle School.

She came to Bedfordshire having undertaking a Masters degree in Environmental Studies in Australia. Her roots are in Kent, where she studied for her first degree (in Rural Environment Studies) from London University’s Wye College.  She now lives in Northill with her husband Martin and family. 

Janet was awarded the MBE in June 2006 for services to rural communities in Bedfordshire.

Judy Oliver

Judy is a local businesswoman and member of Chamber of Commerce board. She manages two companies; Local News TV a web-based community TV station aimed at improving communications between people who live and work in Bedfordshire, and You Unlimited, which designs and runs leadership and management programmes, specialising in change and project management where strong leadership skills are required.

Clifton Ibbett

Clifton is a previous High Sheriff and Chair of the Milton Ernest based Bedfordia Group.

 

 
 

Dr Wendi Momen (Vice Chair)

Wendi Momen was born in California, and came to the United Kingdom in 1969. She holds a BSc in Economics and a Ph.D. in International Relations from the London School of Economics. She is a freelance book editor working particularly for George Ronald, Publisher, of Oxford.

She has been a magistrate since 1982 and is a founder member of the European Baha'i Business Forum (EBBF), of which she is Chair.

She is Chair and Trustee of the Bedford Council of Faiths and of the Baha'i Agency for Social and Economic Development UK (BASED-UK), a Trustee of the Multi-Faith Centre at the University of Derby, Secretary of UNIFEM-UK, a Non-Executive Director of the Bedfordshire Primary Care Trust and a parish councillor of Northill Parish.

She is the author of 12 books and has contributed to a number of other books and academic journals. She is a Soroptimist and a member of the National Council of Women.

Geoff Lambert (Company Secretary)

Geoff is a local businessman active in charity fundraising and the governance of publicly accountable organizations. He sits on the board of a number of companies and institutions . He is particularly focused on helping people gain access to education so they can deliver a better life for themselves and their families. He was recently the recipient of an honorary fellowship of the University of Bedfordshire.

 
 
 
 
 

Andy Rayment

Andy has lived and worked in Bedfordshire for 40 years.  He taught locally for some 16 years before becoming involved in several successful business ventures.

He was a member of Mid Beds District Council between 1995 and 2009 and was Leader of the Council from 1999 to 2002.  In 2003 he became High Sheriff of Bedfordshire.

Andy has supported a variety of local charities and good causes including the Keech Hospice Care, Luton & Dunstable Hospital, The Bedfordshire Cheshire Home and the Community Foundation.

He is married to Ann and lives in Westoning where he has been a member of the Parish Council for over 25 years and a Governor of the village Lower School for over 20 years.

 

Keith Rawlings

Keith is a locally based structural engineer. He is a member of Dunstable Lions and also chairs the Foundation's Fair Share Trust panel.
