The Mark West Fund for Women is a specific fund targeted at supporting women and girls to achieve their full potential by funding locally based community groups who have the expertise to address issues of inequality at a grassroots level.

The aim of the fund is to improve the lives of women and girls through social change grant-making and educate the entire community about the benefits to society when the potential of women and girls is realised. The fund is named after the former Chief Executive of the Foundation, Mark West who was passionate about addressing issues of inequality.

Our Priorities

All successful applicants must be able to affirm that their project is based in Bedfordshire and is targeted at women and/or girls aged over 11. In addition, the project must incorporate one or more of the following strategic priorities

  • Address issues of poverty and homelessness
  • Promote education and literacy
  • Provide health activities and programmes
  • Address issues of violence and safety
  • Provide opportunities to develop economic self-sufficiency and enhance prospects for the future

Donate to the Fund

London Luton Airport Limited and the Amateurs Trust have kindly agreed to provide matched funding for this programme of £25,000 each. This means that a donor who gives £500 to this appeal, plus Gift Aid at £125, will see the value of their gift increase to £1,875. Therefore this fund does rely on the generosity of individuals, companies and other organisations who feel strongly about addressing these issues within Bedfordshire.
